Learn How to perform Athan – Azan – Adhan

Performing the Athan (also known as the Azan or Adhan) is a significant part of Islamic practice. It serves as a beautiful call to prayer, announcing the time for Muslims to engage in their daily prayers. Let’s explore how to perform the Adhan:

الآذان

  1. Preparation:
    • Wash your hands, arms, face, and feet before calling the Adhan. This purification process (wudu) is essential.
    • Face the Qibla, which is the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca.
    • Cover your ears while setting your intention.
    • Clear your mind and focus on delivering a strong call.
  2. Reciting the Adhan:
    • Sing or speak the Adhan loudly in a steady and clear voice so that everyone can hear it.
    • The Adhan consists of several parts:
      • Takbir: Begin with “Allahu Akbar” (God is the Greatest).
      • Shahada: Declare the testimony of faith: “Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah” (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah).
      • Invitation to prayer and success: “Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah” (Hasten to prayer) and “Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah” (Hasten to success).
      • Final declaration of faith: “La ilaha illallah” (There is no god but Allah).
  3. Specific Times:
    • Call the Adhan before each of the five daily prayers:
      • Fajr: Before sunrise
      • Dhuhr: At noon
      • Asr: Between noon and sunset
      • Maghreb: Just after sunset
      • Isha: Before midnight
  4. Repeat the Call (Iqama):
    • After performing the Adhan, recite a short du’a (supplication) to yourself.
    • Then, repeat the call (the Iqama) in a softer voice just before the prayer begins.

Remember, acting as the mu’adhdhin (the one who calls the Adhan) is an honor and responsibility. May your Adhan be sincere and heartfelt, connecting you to the divine. 🙏🕌
